A pool deck spends its life wet, and on Long Island that water freezes every winter. A deck that heaves or tilts toward the pool can trip people, pond water and loosen coping. JDG builds paver and concrete pool decks in Centereach, Stony Brook and nearby towns by sorting out drainage and base before any surface goes down.
What is included
- Removal of failing decks
- Drainage sloped away from water
- Compacted base preparation
- Paver or concrete deck surface
- Coping set level around the pool
- Spa surrounds and raised planters
- Pool-side walkways and retaining walls
Why it lasts
Splash-out, rain and backwash all land on the deck, so every surface is pitched away from the water and runoff from the yard and downspouts is accounted for first.
Coping takes the most handling of any part of the deck. We set it to overhang correctly, level around the full perimeter, so it stays put when people sit, push off and climb out.
Questions homeowners ask
Should my pool deck be pavers or concrete?
Both work. Pavers offer texture and color and can be lifted and reset in sections; concrete gives a continuous surface. We go over the trade-offs for your yard and you choose.
Why is my old pool deck heaving?
Water getting under the deck and freezing, combined with a weak base, is the usual cause. A replacement starts with drainage and a compacted base.
When should the deck go in on a new pool?
After the pool shell and plumbing are complete and the surrounding ground has been backfilled and settled. We coordinate timing with your pool work so the deck goes in at the right stage.
